1. What inspired the emotive spoken vocals in the track, and how do they tie into the overall message of the song?
AL hit me up with them vocals! They’re legendary. They’re from a Mood II Swing song called “Do It Your Way”. He said, he has the rights to use them and I should start with an idea. It’s about self reflection and self-love. Do it Your Way! It’s a perfect mantra and mind set for everybody!
2. Can you tell us more about the creative process of collaborating with BiG AL? What makes your partnership so effective?
I tried a funky version first, since Mood II Swing’s track is funky as well. But AL wasn’t feeling it, he’s a full on Deep House artist and I respect that a lot! So, I had another go. When I had that fat synth stab after the ones and the cool drum rhythm, I knew it was ready to send over to him and he loved it. And he really elevated my demo. He added pads, which set such a nice vibe, making the drops even more powerful when they release. He’s such a great guy, who I was honored to meet on Ibiza this year!
3. With Raise My Spirit climbing the Hype charts and resonating with DJs, how does it feel to see such a positive response to your work?
It’s always good to be heard. There’s 100.000 tracks being released every day, so these charts mean a lot! Every producer wants his work to be recognized, but even just to be heard is quite difficult, so I hope it translates into DJs sets and dancfloors around the world.
